Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Barnet)
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive primary school in Barnet. This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The successful candidate will provide essential support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to fully engage with their learning and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to children with SEN, adapting activities and resources to meet their individual needs.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored learning strategies and interventions.
- Assist with behaviour management, helping to create a positive and structured learning environment.
- Support pupils with communication, social, and emotional development, using appropriate strategies.
- Help with personal care and mobility support where necessary (training will be provided if required).
- Foster independence and confidence in pupils by encouraging their engagement in learning activities.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers, parents, and external professionals as needed.
- Follow the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEN in a school or childcare setting is essential.
- A valid DBS check is required, or willingness to obtain one before starting.
- Knowledge of SEN support strategies, including Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, and other learning needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children’s learning and well-being.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to different classroom environments.
