SENCO Position – Start September 2025 (Optional Handover from May)
Are you passionate about creating an inclusive environment where every child is supported to achieve their full potential? We are working with a friendly two-form entry primary school in Ealing is looking for an experienced and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join their team from September 2025. For the right candidate, we are offering an optional handover period starting in May 2025 to ensure a smooth transition into the role.

The Role: SENCO
We are seeking a SENCO who is not only experienced and knowledgeable about SEND but also a compassionate advocate for the needs of all children. As the SENCO, you will take the lead in managing and enhancing our SEND provision, ensuring that every child receives the support they need to succeed.
Key responsibilities include:
Leadership of SEND Provision
- Develop and oversee the school’s SEND policy and strategy, aligned with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Coordinate and manage the implementation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
- Provide expert advice and practical support to teachers and staff to adapt and differentiate teaching strategies for pupils with SEND.
- Lead staff training to build capacity and understanding of SEND best practices across the school.
Collaboration and Communication
- Build strong, positive relationships with parents and carers, providing guidance, support, and regular updates on their child’s progress.
- Liaise with external agencies, including educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and local authority services, to access specialist resources and support.
- Foster a collaborative approach within the school, working closely with class teachers, teaching assistants, and the leadership team to ensure SEND is integral to classroom practice.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND interventions, using data and evidence to inform decision-making and improvements.
- Report to the Senior Leadership Team and governors on the impact and outcomes of SEND provision.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records for all pupils with SEND, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Experience and Expertise
- Proven experience as a SENCO or in a similar role, ideally within a primary school setting.
- A thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, frameworks, and current policies.
- The National Award for SEN Coordination (or a willingness to achieve this within an agreed timeframe).
Skills and Attributes
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a diverse and dynamic workload.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with pupils, staff, parents, and external partners.
- A compassionate and proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
