Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Ealing, London
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:45 pm
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Start Date: Immediate (subject to DBS clearance)
Salary: Competitive, depending on experienceAbout Us:
We are working with a vibrant and inclusive primary school in the heart of Ealing, rated Outstanding by Ofsted. This school is known for its nurturing atmosphere, enthusiastic pupils, and passionate staff, all driven by a commitment to support every child’s unique learning journey. Their supportive Senior Leadership Team works hard to ensure that each member of our school community feels valued, empowered, and appreciated. The close-knit, collaborative environment is ideal for any SEN Teaching Assistant who wants to make a genuine impact.
The Role:
We are looking for an empathetic and motivated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide dedicated support for children with additional needs, including ADHD and ASD. In this role, you will support students in the classroom, helping them engage with lessons, develop social skills, and work towards their individual learning goals. This role does not involve working with students with severe challenging behaviour, but you should be prepared to adapt your approach to meet varying needs. This is a classroom-based role.
You’ll be working under the guidance of class teachers and the SENCo, using tailored strategies to meet the needs of each child. Your support will not only help children thrive academically but also foster their confidence, resilience, and well-being. For anyone with experience or a keen interest in supporting children with SEN, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference in a positive and encouraging environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or small group support for students with ADHD and ASD, assisting with both academic and social development.
- Collaborate closely with class teachers and the SENCo to create and implement individual support plans.
- Utilise a variety of strategies to engage students in classroom activities, working to enhance their focus, understanding, and retention.
- Adapt classroom materials and activities to cater to the unique needs of the students you support.
- Encourage independence by helping students develop key learning and coping skills.
- Monitor and document progress, reporting insights and feedback to both teachers and parents where appropriate.
- Promote positive social interactions and help children navigate and build peer relationships.
- Engage in regular training and professional development to stay up-to-date with SEN best practices.
What We’re Looking For:
We are looking for a passionate individual with:
- Previous experience working with children with additional needs, ideally within a primary school setting.
- Understanding of ADHD and ASD—you’ll be well-prepared to support children with these specific needs.
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability—traits essential for creating a safe and encouraging environment.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff and parents and to build positive connections with the children.
- A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and resilience in supporting diverse learners.
- A current Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one at your own expense if you do not have an existing certificate).
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Why Join Us?
- Exceptional School Environment: We are Ofsted-rated Outstanding, with a culture of high standards balanced with genuine care and inclusivity.
- Supportive Leadership Team: Our SLT is not only committed to students but to staff well-being as well. You’ll be joining a truly supportive, hands-on team.
- Continued Professional Development: Regular training and development opportunities to help you advance your knowledge and skills.
- Collaborative Team Atmosphere: You’ll work alongside a dedicated team who are as passionate as you are about supporting each student’s unique needs.
- Immediate Start: We are looking for someone who is ready to jump in and make an impact right away!
Application Process:
If you are enthusiastic, compassionate, and dedicated to making a real difference in children’s lives, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your CV detailing your relevant experience and why you would be a great fit for our school.
