Overview
We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a diverse team on a part time basis. The successful candidate will provide crucial support to students with a range of SEN needs, ensuring they have equal access to education and can thrive in the classroom environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN needs, including those with speech and language difficulties
- Assist the class teacher in creating a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for all students
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies as directed by the SENCO or class teacher
- Foster positive relationships with students, ensuring their well-being and emotional support needs are met
- Collaborate with the SENCO, teachers, and other support staff to promote an inclusive and accessible learning environment for all students
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with students with SEN needs is preferred
- Understanding of speech and language difficulties and strategies to support students with these needs is ideal
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students and colleagues
- Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations, and to adapt support strategies to meet the individual needs of students
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion in the education setting
Day-to-day
- Work closely with the class teacher to understand the specific needs of the students you will be supporting
- Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored support to meet the individual needs of students
- Provide reassurance and encouragement to students, promoting a positive and supportive learning environment
- Take part in regular training and professional development opportunities to further enhance your skills and understanding of supporting students with SEN needs
