Job Title: Speech and Language Teaching Assistant – Year 1

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and interested in Speech and Language Therapy? We have a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant to work with a non-verbal Year 1 student in a primary school in Islington.

About the Role:

• 1:1 Support: Work closely with a non-verbal child in Year 1, helping them engage with their learning and development.
• No Behaviour Challenges: The role is focused on communication and learning support in a calm environment.
• BSL Training: You will receive British Sign Language (BSL) training, making this an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in communication strategies or speech and language therapy.
• Visual Communication: Help the student using visuals and other communication techniques to enhance learning.

Requirements:

• Passion for working with children, especially those with special educational needs.
• Willingness to learn BSL and other communication tools.
• A proactive and compassionate approach to supporting students’ individual needs.
• Full-time availability and readiness to start ASAP.
• A valid enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
