Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Type: Full Time - 8:30am-4pm

Location: Merton

Salary: Competitive *Based on Expeirence

Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a Primary School in Merton. You will be expected to support SEN Students on a 1:1 and group basis working to improve their social and academic skills. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of SEN, with previous SEN experience in a school setting and be committed to creating an inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to students with special educational needs in the classroom setting
  • Assist the teacher in implementing individual education plans for students with SEN
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to ensure the best possible outcomes for students with SEN
  • Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and other support staff regarding student progress and well-being

Qualifications

  • A strong understanding of special educational needs and how they may affect learning
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to supporting students with SEN
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special education are advantageous

Day-to-day

  • Providing one-on-one support to students with SEN
  • Assisting with the implementation of individual education plans
  • Collaborating with teachers and support staff to ensure a inclusive learning environment
  • Providing feedback on student progress and well-being to relevant stakeholders
  • Creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for students with SEN
