Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a Primary School in Merton. You will be expected to support SEN Students on a 1:1 and group basis working to improve their social and academic skills. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of SEN, with previous SEN experience in a school setting and be committed to creating an inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to students with special educational needs in the classroom setting
- Assist the teacher in implementing individual education plans for students with SEN
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students
- Work collaboratively with the teaching team to ensure the best possible outcomes for students with SEN
- Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and other support staff regarding student progress and well-being
Qualifications
- A strong understanding of special educational needs and how they may affect learning
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to supporting students with SEN
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special education are advantageous
Day-to-day
- Providing one-on-one support to students with SEN
- Assisting with the implementation of individual education plans
- Collaborating with teachers and support staff to ensure a inclusive learning environment
- Providing feedback on student progress and well-being to relevant stakeholders
- Creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for students with SEN
