Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Full-Time
Location: Barnet
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract Type: Full-time, long-termWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive and welcoming school community in Barnet. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HLTA or a well-qualified teaching assistant ready to take on additional responsibilities.
About the Role
The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of pupils across Key Stage 2 (KS2). The role will involve:
- Classroom Cover: Stepping in to teach and manage classes in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring continuity in learning.
- Small Group and One-to-One Support: Providing targeted intervention and learning support to KS2 pupils to help them reach their full potential.
- Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support: Working closely with children who have additional learning needs, implementing strategies to support their progress and well-being.
- Behaviour Management: Confidently maintaining a positive and structured learning environment, ensuring high standards of behaviour in line with school policies.
- Collaboration with Teaching Staff: Working alongside teachers to plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
Candidate Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
- Previous experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or significant experience as a teaching assistant with the ability to cover lessons.
- A strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and the confidence to implement them effectively.
- Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), adapting support to meet individual needs.
- A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A valid Enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one before starting).
