Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Job Type: Full Time, ASAP Start
Location: Croydon
Overview
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work with secondary level students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The ideal candidate will provide support to ensure that every student receives the attention and guidance needed to thrive academically and personally.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the classroom teacher to provide individualized support to students with SEN
- Tailor teaching methods and materials to accommodate the specific learning needs of each student
- Provide emotional and behavioral support to ensure a nurturing and inclusive environment for the students
- Monitor and track student progress, and communicate regularly with the teacher and parents/guardians
- Assist in planning and implementing interactive and engaging learning activities
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with secondary level students, preferably in a special education setting
- Strong understanding of various learning difficulties and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly
- Empathy, patience, and excellent communication skills
- Relevant training, certifications, or qualifications in special education or a related field is preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals
Day-to-day
The 1:1 Teaching Assistant will work directly with students, providing personalized support during classroom activities and individual learning sessions. This may involve implementing specific learning strategies, providing emotional support, assisting with behavior management, and maintaining ongoing communication with the classroom teacher and other support staff. Additionally, the role may involve contributing to the development of individual education plans and monitoring student progress.
