Job Title: Secondary Teaching Assistant

Contract Type: Full-Time, ContractWe are excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Watford. This full-time role involves working with students across various year groups, with a particular focus on supporting those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Key Responsibilities:
- 1:1 and Small Group Support: Provide personalized support to students with SEN, both within the classroom and during small group activities, helping them engage with their learning and develop confidence.
- Assisting Teachers: Work closely with class teachers to help deliver lessons that are inclusive and tailored to the needs of SEN students, ensuring they can access the curriculum and progress academically.
- Implementing IEPs: Collaborate with the SEN team to create and implement Educational Healthcare Plans for students, regularly monitoring progress and adapting support strategies as needed.
- Behavioural and Emotional Support: Assist students in managing any behavioural or emotional challenges, helping them stay focused and engaged in their learning, and promoting positive social interactions.
- Communication with Parents: Provide feedback to parents or guardians about student progress and any areas of concern, working closely with families to ensure the best outcomes for students.
- Inclusive Learning Environment: Help foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and encouraged to succeed.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience working with SEN students in a secondary school setting is essential. Familiarity with a range of SEN conditions such as autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities is highly desirable.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with students, teachers, SENCOs, and parents.
- Patience and Empathy: A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with students who may face emotional and academic challenges.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with the wider school team, including teachers, SENCO, and other support staff, to ensure the best support for students.
- DBS: A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
