Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant to join a team of Teaching Assistants in Dagenham. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SEN and previous experience in educational support roles. This role requires patience, empathy, and a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support students with special educational needs in their learning and development
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored educational activities
  • Provide one-on-one support to students who require additional assistance
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Collaborate with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement individual education plans
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of special educational needs and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly
  • Previous experience in a teaching assistant or similar support role, preferably within an SEN setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience and empathy when working with students with diverse learning needs
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from the class teacher and SENCO

Day-to-day

  • Providing one-on-one support to students with special educational needs
  • Collaborating with the class teacher to create and deliver tailored educational activities
  • Assisting with the implementation of individual education plans
  • Monitoring and recording student progress and behaviour
  • Supporting the overall inclusive and welcoming atmosphere of the classroom
