Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Type: Full time, 8:30am-4pm

Location: Greenwich, London

Salary: Competitive, Based on experience

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team for a SEN School in Greenwich. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of diverse SEN needs and previous experience working with students with a variety of learning challenges. This role requires excellent communication and written skills to effectively support our students and ensure their success.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with SEN
  • Work closely with individual or small groups of students with SEN to support their learning and development
  • Collaborate with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement personalized education plans for students with SEN
  • Monitor and track student progress, and provide regular feedback to the classroom teacher and SENCO
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and any additional support needed
  • Contribute to the overall well-being and positive school experience of students with SEN

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of a variety of SEN needs
  • Previous experience working with students with SEN
  • Excellent communication and written skills
  • A patient and empathetic approach to working with students with diverse learning needs
  • Relevant certifications and training in SEN support is advantageous

Day-to-day

  • Supporting the classroom teacher in delivering lessons and adapting materials to meet the needs of students with SEN
  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with SEN during classroom activities
  • Assisting students with SEN with personal care needs, if required
  • Collaborating with the classroom teacher and SENCO to review and adapt education plans as needed
  • Engaging students with SEN in meaningful activities to promote their social and emotional development
