Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join an inclusive school community. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in working with special educational needs (SEN) students, particularly those with complex needs, Autism, ADHD, and challenging behavior. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the learning and development of our students and will work closely with both teachers and students to ensure an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide support and assistance to teachers in delivering effective and engaging lessons for students with SEN needs
- Work with small groups or individual students to provide targeted interventions and support their learning and development
- Assist in the planning and preparation of learning materials and resources to meet the specific needs of SEN students
- Support SEN students to access the curriculum and participate fully in school activities
- Monitor and track progress of SEN students and provide feedback to teachers and parents/guardians
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment by promoting equality and diversity
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with SEN students, including those with complex needs, Autism, ADHD, and challenging behavior
- Strong communication and writing skills to effectively communicate with students, teachers, and parents/guardians
- Solid understanding of the primary school curriculum and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of SEN students
- Experience with interventions and individualized support for SEN students
- Relevant qualifications and/or training in supporting SEN students is desirable
Day-to-day
On a day-to-day basis, the Higher Level Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers to provide additional support to SEN students in the classroom. This may involve leading small group activities, providing one-on-one support, and assisting with the adaptation of curriculum materials to meet varying learning needs. The HLTA will also collaborate with the SENCO and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans and behavior management strategies. Additionally, the HLTA will communicate with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and collaborate with external agencies involved in supporting SEN students.
