Description

SEN Class Teacher – Full-Time

Location: Hillingdon
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR (dependent on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Class Teacher to join a highly supportive and well-resourced Special Educational Needs school in Hillingdon from September 2025. This is a full-time position, providing an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact on the education and development of children with additional needs.

As an SEN Class Teacher, you will be responsible for leading a class of eight pupils, supported by four experienced Teaching Assistants. You will play a key role in designing and delivering an engaging, differentiated curriculum that meets the individual needs of your students. The school is flexible regarding the year group assignment and will consider your experience and preference when allocating your class.

This role is well-suited to a passionate educator who is committed to providing high-quality learning experiences for children with a range of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess highly differentiated lessons tailored to meet the needs of students with SEN.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment where all pupils feel safe and valued.

  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, ensuring a collaborative and effective approach to supporting students’ learning and development.

  • Develop and implement EHCPs and behaviour support strategies in line with school policies.

  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s education.

  • Contribute to the wider school community, including attending training and professional development sessions.

Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is preferred but not essential. Candidates with strong SEN teaching experience will be considered.

  • Experience of working with children with complex learning needs, either within a specialist setting or a mainstream environment.

  • A strong understanding of differentiated teaching approaches, behaviour management strategies, and assistive technology to support SEN learners.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with TAs, therapists, and families.

  • A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to teaching, ensuring that every child is supported in reaching their full potential.

What We Offer

  • A supportive and inclusive school environment with a strong leadership team and dedicated colleagues.

  • Access to ongoing professional development, including training in specialist SEN strategies and interventions.

  • A well-resourced teaching environment, including sensory rooms and specialist equipment.

  • The opportunity to work in a rewarding role, making a real difference in the lives of children with SEN.

If you are an adaptable, compassionate, and committed educator with a passion for SEN teaching, we would love to hear from you.
