Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Primary SEN Teacher to join our inclusive and diverse school community. The successful candidate will have a passion for supporting students with a range of special educational needs, creating engaging and accessible learning experiences, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess tailored lessons for primary students with special educational needs, ensuring that each student's individual learning requirements and goals are met
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, support staff, and external professionals to create and implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans
- Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to accommodate diverse learning needs, including visual aids, sensory materials, and assistive technology
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social and emotional development, self-confidence, and independence
- Regularly communicate with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress, celebrate achievements, and address any concerns
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and previous experience teaching primary students with special educational needs
- Strong understanding of different learning needs and the ability to adapt teaching methods and materials accordingly
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing inclusive and differentiated teaching practices
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the holistic development of students with special educational needs
Day-to-day
- Collaborating with teaching assistants and support staff to plan and deliver individualized learning experiences
- Using a range of sensory materials, visual aids, and assistive technology to engage students and support their learning
- Communicating with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress and discuss any concerns or celebrations
- Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in special educational needs provision
