Job Title: Key Stage 2 Class Teacher (Maternity Cover)
Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Fixed-Term (Maternity Cover until July 2026)
Pay Scale: M1 – M6Educate Staffing is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded and inclusive primary school in Stevenage for a committed and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 Class Teacher to cover maternity leave starting in September 2025. This is a full-time position with full classroom responsibilities, including planning, assessment, and involvement in the wider school community. The contract will run until the end of the academic year.

Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons that meet the needs of all learners in line with the National Curriculum
Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing effective feedback and adapting teaching to ensure all pupils make good progress
Create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and a love of learning
Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and leadership to support pupil development and maintain high standards
Contribute to school events, meetings, and the wider life of the school
Build strong relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and external stakeholders
Maintain accurate records and fulfil all professional duties as outlined by the school’s policies
Essential Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Recent and relevant teaching experience in Key Stage 2
Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and effective teaching strategies
Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
A nurturing and supportive approach to teaching
High expectations for pupil progress and attainment
Effective planning, organisational, and time management skills
Willingness to take full responsibility for planning, assessment, and reporting
Desirable Attributes:
Experience teaching in mixed-ability or diverse classrooms
Confidence in using formative and summative assessment to inform planning
A collaborative approach to working within a team
Familiarity with SEND strategies and inclusive practice
