Job Title: Key Stage 2 Class Teacher (Maternity Cover)
Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Fixed-Term (Maternity Cover until July 2026)
Pay Scale: M1 – M6 

Educate Staffing is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded and inclusive primary school in Stevenage for a committed and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 Class Teacher to cover maternity leave starting in September 2025. This is a full-time position with full classroom responsibilities, including planning, assessment, and involvement in the wider school community. The contract will run until the end of the academic year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons that meet the needs of all learners in line with the National Curriculum

  • Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing effective feedback and adapting teaching to ensure all pupils make good progress

  • Create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and a love of learning

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and leadership to support pupil development and maintain high standards

  • Contribute to school events, meetings, and the wider life of the school

  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and external stakeholders

  • Maintain accurate records and fulfil all professional duties as outlined by the school’s policies


Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Recent and relevant teaching experience in Key Stage 2

  • Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and effective teaching strategies

  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills

  • A nurturing and supportive approach to teaching

  • High expectations for pupil progress and attainment

  • Effective planning, organisational, and time management skills

  • Willingness to take full responsibility for planning, assessment, and reporting


Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience teaching in mixed-ability or diverse classrooms

  • Confidence in using formative and summative assessment to inform planning

  • A collaborative approach to working within a team

  • Familiarity with SEND strategies and inclusive practice
