Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher with experience teaching music across Primary School and Secondary schools to join an all through school with an inclusive team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education, a creative and engaging teaching style, and a commitment to fostering a love of music in students of all backgrounds and abilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging and inclusive music lessons that align with the national curriculum and cater to students' individual learning needs.
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore their musical abilities and express themselves through music.
- Organise and lead extracurricular music activities, such as choirs, bands, or music clubs, to provide additional opportunities for students to develop their musical skills and passion.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement cross-curricular initiatives that integrate music into other subject areas, promoting a well-rounded education for students.
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to provide regular updates on students' progress and the music curriculum.
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- A degree in music or music education is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in teaching music, with a strong understanding of music theory, history, and performance techniques.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and inclusive approach to working with students, staff, and families.
Day-to-day
- Planning and delivering music lessons for students across various age groups and abilities.
- Leading rehearsals and performances for school bands, choirs, or ensembles.
- Assessing and providing feedback on students' musical progress and assignments.
- Collaborating with colleagues to integrate music into thematic units and whole-school initiatives.
- Participating in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and parent-teacher conferences.
