Contract: Full-time, term-time onlyAre you a passionate and confident SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role in a vibrant primary school? We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our mainstream primary school in Colindale, supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2) who present with challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to implement individualised learning plans and behaviour strategies.
Assist in the development of pupils' social, emotional, and academic progress through structured support and intervention strategies.
Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour with confidence, employing positive behaviour management techniques.
Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that supports the needs of all students.
Encourage independence and build strong, positive relationships with students to enhance their confidence and engagement in learning.
Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure consistent support for the pupils.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly those with behavioural challenges, in a school setting.
Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to remain calm and resilient under pressure.
A proactive and positive attitude towards supporting children's learning and development.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
A relevant qualification in education or childcare (desirable but not essential).
